A tale as old as time has joined an exclusive box office club of just eight entries.

Disney’s live-action take on ‘Beauty and the Beast’ has crossed the $500 million mark in the U.S., joining an exclusive club where only eight films have managed to gross more than $500 million at the American box office.

Belle and the Beast have joined films like ‘The Dark Knight’ ($538 million) and last year’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ ($534 million) in the $500 million club.

The 2017 ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is currently ranked as the 8th highest grossing film in North America and currently stands as the highest grossing film worldwide this year, currently ranking in more than $1.234 billion making it the 10th highest grossing film at the global box office.

The live-action version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is currently playing in theatres.
