Last October, Disney shocked everyone that a live-action ‘The Lion King’ was in the works. But I guess it was kinda inevitable, it was Disney’s highest grossing film from the 90’s and has since become the highest grossing traditional animated film, ever.
Since then, we’ve had casting announcements of Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.
Today, Disney has now dated the live-action re-imagining of ‘The Lion King’ in a prime summer slot of July 19th, 2019, announced on Twitter by director Jon Favreau.
The film will be providing the photo realistic CGI that was incorporated with Favreau’s last year blockbuster hit ‘The Jungle Book’ which ended up grossing over $966 million worldwide.
