Captain Underpants is leaping his way to the big screen in the first trailer for ‘Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie’.

The movie is adapted from author’s Dav Pilkey’s popular book series, and is being produced by DreamWorks Animation, the company that brought us last year’s ‘Trolls’, along with past films like ‘Shrek’, ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon’.

I grew up reading the ‘Captain Underpants’ books in primary school, and I really liked the idea, concept and characters of the book series. From what I can see, it seems like it is being faithful to the source material as there a lot of things I remember from the books like battling evil toilets and hypnotizing your principal to become the amazing Captain Underpants.

The trailer also has an extended opening of the film’s two stars, Ed Helms and Kevin Hart, introducing the trailer (you don’t really see introductions in front of trailers much anymore).

I’m excited to see how this film plays out when it premieres in theatres on June 2nd in the USA and September 14th for Australian moviegoers.
