The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that a reboot on ‘The Matrix’ is in early stages over at Warner Bros. Zak Penn is in talks to write the screenplay. Penn has been screenwriter on ‘The Incredible Hulk’, along with co-writer on many projects including ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’, and newer projects for next year like ‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’.

Potentially Michael B. Jordan might star in the reboot or relaunch (a.k.a. a revival of the series) of ‘The Matrix’, as the ‘Chronicle’ and ‘Creed’ star is being considered by the studio, although according to The Hollywood Reporter the project has a lot of development that is needed before casting begins on the reboot.

However, The Wachowskis’ who wrote and directed the first three films aren’t involved in the project so far in its early stages.

The first ‘Matrix’ film was not only a critical and financial success, but it was a pop culture phenomenon leaving many other films to duplicate or spoof its ambitious style when it was released in theatres back in 1999. And love or hate them, ‘The Matrix’ sequels were both successful at the box office, with ‘Reloaded’ being the highest grossing film in the trilogy, grossing more than $742 million when it was released back in 2003.

Are you excited about a potential reboot of ‘The Matrix’ or do you think its a bad idea because the first film is so beloved?
