TOP STORY: Was there any doubt to what movie opened in first place this weekend? It was more of a matter of how big will it open as ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ opened to $155 million, making it the third highest grossing opening weekend for this year, below ‘Captain America: Civil War’ ($179.1 million) and ‘Batman v Superman’ ($166 million). ‘Rogue One’ is also the second highest opening weekend for the month of December, below last year’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ ($248 million). In the next five years, we may as well call December, ‘Star Wars’ month. Globally, ‘Harry Potter’ prequel/spin-off ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ apparates past $700 million, now currently sitting at $717 million total, while it surpassed $200 million a couple of days ago in America.
