After grossing a total of $587 million worldwide back in 2013, ‘The Croods’ was a mega hit for DreamWorks Animation, so naturally a sequel was announced for a November 2017 date.

However, dates kept being pushed back to December 2017, then ultimately sometime in 2018, and new writers were hired to write the film. It seemed like it was having some unfortunate production problems.

Unfortunately, Variety has broke the news that the sequel’s fate has been met as ‘The Croods 2’ has stopped production immediately.

Lately, DreamWorks Animation has had films cancelled before after given a firm release date. ‘Me and My Shadow’ had been scrapped, to only now being reworked with Edgar Wright attached to direct, while other films like ‘B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations’ was scheduled for 2015, only to be taken off the schedule.

It could likely be reworked in the future, but for now it looks like ‘The Croods 2’ is going extinct for the time being, which is unfortunate because the first film was an entertaining movie. Bit of a bummer!

In the meantime, here’s what’s to look forward from the animation studio.
