DreamWorks Animation, recently, have had a rocky roller-coaster in terms of quality and financially. For every miss ‘Penguins of Madagascar’ and ‘Home’, there’s a success, mainly with their sequels ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ and this year’s ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’.
With the studio’s next animated feature ‘Trolls’ set to debut this November. However, DreamWorks Animation has released the first trailer for their next feature ‘The Boss Baby’.
The trailer features the story of a perfect little family of three, focusing on a seven year old kid who loves his parents, until a baby crashes the party and is getting all the attention instead. However, this baby isn’t your regular “goo-goo gah-gah” baby. This baby can talk, thanks to Alec Baldwin voicing the role.
I’m not quite sure what I think about the trailer. On one side, the film could be a lot of fun, however on the other side, the trailer didn’t get me a whole lot excited for it, as it shows a brother rivalry and competing for attention, which does seem a little formulaic. Although, after the kid discovers the baby can talk, maybe there’s more than what the trailer is showing, but then again it is a teaser trailer, so this trailer just introduces the family and the rivalry between the two characters, leaving the film’s main plot until the next trailer reveal.
‘The Boss Baby’ debuts in theatres on March 31st, 2017.
