I’ll go on record and say I’m not really into the whole pirate genre, as I’ve seen ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and wasn’t a fan of the first film, so when I found out that acclaimed stop motion animation studio Aardman was going to create a film about pirates, I wasn’t frankly excited at all, however, this film is unique and different enough to stand out from all the pirate flicks out there.

‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’, or the UK title ‘The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!’, follows Pirate Captain, and his crew of pirates, to enter in the Pirate of the Year Awards to win the trophy, however always loses every year in the past 20, 21, 22 so years. However, a scientist named Charles Darwin agrees in a partnership with Pirate Captain for his parrot, which ends up being a rare creature known as the dodo.

This film twists the pirate genre, and instead it’s filled with wonderful and creative jokes. ‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ is creative, hilarious, amusing action spectacles and tremendous work of stop motion animation, being quite detailed and full of beauty, ‘The Pirates!’ is a swashbuckling good time.
