One of Disney’s darkest films, but also one of their most hilarious animated films in their 50+ film canon.

‘The Lion King’ is, in my opinion, Disney’s shining crown jewel. It is perfect on every level. The film is highly emotional. Probably Disney’s most heart breaking scene, without giving away anything in case anyone hasn’t seen it before.

‘The Lion King’ is extremely hilarious, with the best lines from Timon and Pumbaa. They are more than just hilarious sidekicks, they actually help out Simba through anything, highlighting one of the film’s themes of friendship.

The film is extremely beautiful and very detailed.

This is also the highest grossing 2D drawn animated film ever grossing over $950 million worldwide. It is also Disney’s most successful with both critics and audiences.

This is one of those rare Disney movies that you love every song, those being “Circle of Life”“Be Prepared”“Hakuna Matata” (which means no worries) and “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King”.

My personal favourite would have to be “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, as it not only slows the movie down a bit to give the film some more breathing room from the inclusion of new characters appearing, but it is done with passion and you can’t help feeling sorry for Timon and Pumbaa as they slowly lose their best friend.

Overall, ‘The Lion King’ is just as great as it was when it first premiered in theatres.

The film has been my absolute childhood favourite when it came to traditional animated movies and has proven the test of time as a perfect animated film for any age.

If you have not seen this masterpiece, then give it a go, it is highly recommended as it is, in my opinion, my favourite Disney animated film produced by the Mouse House.
